Type: Axis Defend Mission
Players: 1
Difficulty: Medium

In this mission the player starts on top of a hill inside a huge forest and has to defend his position for 45 minutes against the allied attack. There are a few side missions to complete to make the survival easier.

Surprised there's no discussion on this one. Great map. Lots of fun.

Played it for the first time last night and survived just by the skin of my teeth. The King Tiger was just a hair's breath from exploding, and I only had one other Panther left. That last wave of Allies was overpowering. Nor did it help that just before they attacked a air bombing run wiped out half of my ground forces all in one attack. Not sure if they were just lucky or what, but that really hurt.

Want to try it again and try to set up my defenses a little differently, now that i know what to expect. ;-)

Thanks again guys. Great stuff.

The only combination that I managed to win with (in the easy setting , lol ) was PE with the Luftwaffe Tree. Any other suggestions ?

Agreed, but you need time to set up that defensiveline right? Go defensive doctrine, put out 2 volksgrenadiers out, pick up panzerschrek and mg42 light, cap the quad, Pak and upgrade your bunkers. Have your pioneers put out 5 repair bunkers and move your king tiger out early and put it right in front of your mortar bunker (down a ways) and everytime my defenses are looking shammy I use that king tiger to block the area by doing the same thing again. Moving the king tiger down in front. Also, 88 per side does great! make sure when you lose them to put one Smack in the middle of your back defenses. This was fun I admit it busted me a new one when I tried it on normal. The strategy I have prolly will work up to normal.

A tac that worked for me:

Take panzer elite and pick Scorched earth doctorine. Send the tiger to the side you prefer. Reinforce the other side with assault grens and tank busters. Put 1-2 marders at each side. Keep 1 infantry halftrack at each side because you need it to reinforce your panzer squads. When you get enough points unlock hummel and call in 2 of them. These will kill any long range units you cant reach. Purchase the upgrade (when you can) that lets your grens to heal in HQ sector. Since the HQ sector is so large, your grens are basically healing all the time! By the time you get to call in panthers, the enemy is pounding you with heavy armor and arty. Use those panthers to reinforce your weak points. If you get overrun, retreat to your base and set up a defense where the first quad flack is. Use your king tiger to soak up the damage and let your marders get the kills. Keep a squad or 2 near em because you dont want that tiger to blow up. Put the panthers behind your tiger and use em to support it.
